Meeting of Experts on Biological Indicators in Canada

The Biodiversity Knowledge Center, CNPq National Institute of Science and Technology, and the Brazilian Biodiversity Program (PPBio) participate this week in the Third Meeting of the Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Indicators (HATEG) in the Canadian city of Montreal.


The meeting takes place between the 3rd and 6th of October. The event is of enormous importance for the current moment, when several international agreements related to the climate and biodiversity agendas are being signed.

The discussions will address various topics related to the quality, affinity and operationalization of groups of biological biodiversity indicators, which should guide countries in their reports to the different UN government organizations.


Among the main themes are the review of guidelines and definition of indicators, filling temporal and spatial gaps, providing information on capabilities and needs in terms of development, technology transfer and financing needs related to monitoring.
